Black Wind revised by luniara Black Wind revised by luniara
One of my favorite drawings I've done. If you look back in my gallery you can see an older version that I just couldnt get to come out right.

I added more that I felt was more up to date while I was fiddling with it, and covered the chest up. Added a kinda sepia tone. I also removed the gay photoshop texture and added a one I actually made myself.

I'll keep the older one up for now.

Wow! What a response! I love how you guys are giving me inputs on what you like and dislike! Great comments! Thank you so much!

Your style in this is awesome. I love the dark outlines. Makes it feel either art nouveau or like stained glass.

Thank you! I actually rly miss that style. =( Was one of my favs.

I love this piece! It is absolutely wonderful!

The ONLY, I mean ONLY thing I would say about "improving" in the detail of the katana tsuba or handguard. It looks a little plain.

But other than that little bit, I LOOOOOOOOOVE it! ^^
luniara Featured By Owner Sep 13, 2009  Professional Digital Artist
Detailing it would've taken away from the other details of the drawing/draw attention away. It wasn't the important element of the piece. ^^

Thanks though! Much appriciated.

true, that's why I really wasn't too worried about it. It just stood out to me, I guess. Ethier way the picture is still amazing!

Just the face to the collar bone is absolute beauty.
But surely the rest adds to the effect!

Something about the way you draw collar bones really piques my curiosity in your artwork.
akanefox Featured By Owner Jul 7, 2008
That's really pretty! *favorited*
I love the face, and even though the neck's kind long, I love it.
(sometimes i draw long necks... XD)

I absolutely love this piece out of your entire gallery. The white hair does it for me!

I just can't stop staring at her face, I love it so hard. It's just...awesome. I can't express how much I really do love this image.
though one thing bugs (very very slightly mind you XD) her collar bone area looks a smidge awkward but other than that, everything is amazing ^_^ awesome texture btw~
luniara Featured By Owner Jun 3, 2008  Professional Digital Artist
Yeh, the collar bone ended up messed up since I was moving the position of the chest around. That and the neck being long did not help it none. Thanks for all your wonderful comments!
MystickFire Featured By Owner Jun 3, 2008
You're very welcome and actually I like long necks even though they are disproportionate XD so I think that parts pretty! hahaha

the chest is also aligned better here, as well as covered in a white that balances with the hair... the difference is night and day, this piece is fav'd... well done!

I have always loved this/that piece! Neat to see it redone. Not sure how I feel about the boobage being covered up.... XD That's your prerogative!

This picture just has so much emotion in it. I just love it >3. The texture you added is awesome.
kellisart Featured By Owner Oct 28, 2007  Professional Digital Artist
I definitely dig the diffused look that the colors have...i was half tempted to ask for your brush information bla bla bla. Ha! My only qualm is that her left boob looks like it might not be there....the right twin seems perfect (and this is gay-man-trying-to-work-out-proper-boob-mechanics), but it seems like it'd have the same (apparent) support the other one has....IE, not letting gravity take as much of a toll....did that make ANY sense?
LovesDarkness Featured By Owner Oct 25, 2007
Hmmm...something seems a little off with the kind of looks like she Might just be me tho.

Otherwise I really like this piece. I really adore the patterns on her kimono and the background...and the ribbon thing on her katana. She looks very pretty ^_^
luniara Featured By Owner Oct 25, 2007  Professional Digital Artist
Hmmm, yeah. I think what it needs is shading above that general area you're looking at. To give it a sense that something is protruding and casting a shadow. I kick myself because I don't believe I saved this file. =( Any alterations would run into the texture.

Thank you for pointing that out!

Wow, the tones are actually amazing! But I'm most impressed with how you've made the texture yourself! *such professionalism* I can see no oddities or mistakes, This is beautiful within itself :)

Mm, beautiful, Mel. As usual.

However, I feel your older version without the sepia tone over top of it was a lot more relaxing and pleasing upon the eyes, it made the colours a little more outstanding and vibrant.

Perhaps if you were to scale this one down a little more and sharpen the image, it might develop a not-so blinding effect.
However, it is still as every bit gorgeous as the original, I do adore the fact you covered the breasts, and did such a seamless job of it! Also, I can't help but stare into her eyes, the sultry look upon her face. Delicious.

I think your choices in changes were excellent decisions. The new colors enhance your picture even more than your original colors and the texture you've created is less distracting than the photoshop "lace". All in all, great update of an already terrific picture.

I personally think this is perfect. =)
