Giving myself shivers...

Journal Entry: Fri May 9, 2008, 8:59 AM
I recently got a bunch of teeth filled (I went 22 years without cavities- ALWAYS flossed and brushed.) Just got the last of them done yesterday. (So achey right now. Rather grumpy from it since there was so many complications trying to get the right side numb. He was drilling and I still felt it.) Apparently, the dentin was caused by the... dun dun dun wisdom teeth. WHICH, are barely out of my gums. (impacted tooth?)

Makes sense right?

I had never felt a real tooth pain until this dentist fiddled on my top right wisdom tooth. OUCH. I moved away from him like he was a plague. So, the best thing he recommends is getting ALL 4 removed.

I am terrified, and reading up on it from people, and hearing what they went through after? Thinking of it makes me cry and my mouth ache.

Anyone have any thoughts?

As always, check out my blog for nicer rants and doodles- please: [link]

Get it done now, before it happens again, or gets worse.

I can sympathize - I have 6 wisdom teeth - 4 on top, 2 on bottom. I have a history of dental weirdness, but I fear the day (probably sooner than I like) that I have to get them out. I plan to demand to be put under completely for that.

Hey, you should not be terrified. I, myself, had my four wisdom teeth removed on last week's Monday, and I have to admit on the way to the hospital, I thought I was gonna vomit because of the fear. But the operation went perfectly fine. As long as you go to a good hospital, it's gonna be alright. It might hurt a bit after (it didn't hurt that much for me.) but it probably won't hurt as much as it would if you kept them. : )

thing is I don't feel them. only time I did was when he poked the shit out of ONE of them. I felt pain from the other teeth.

I see what you mean, I didn't feel them either : / but my dentist said it would bring complications in the future.

I have had lot teeth pulled. It does hurt after and only during if they cant get ya numb due to resistance or infection. Relax though youll feel so much better once they are out. Depending on how fast ya heal youll be good to go in few days after. Lots of soft foods :)

aw. My wisdom teeth are still growing in so I have no advice there.
It kinda sucks for me, I had braces for about 4 years, and it feels like the wisdom teeth are moving them a little as they start to grow in.
Sucks for the cavities. Gives a real blah feeling down deep in your stomach doesn't it?
I had that once, the dentist didnt wait long enough on my left side for the freezing to kick in fully, and started to drill.
I hope things go well for you and your Wisdom teeth :).

Thats normal with the other teeth starting to ache. Its the infection/soreness from them moving. Its not actually the teeth next being infected your teeth act like chain reaction. I have had one tooth set off 4 or 5 that were perfectly fine and they stoped soon as that one was out.

I feel you on this, all 4 of mine are impacted and are reversing the work that 4 years of braces fixed. The issue if finding the time to get them out for me. You figure I only lost 2 of my teeth the natural way, all the others were extractions.
~CabbageKnees:iconCabbageKnees: May 9, 2008, 10:31:32 AM
My advice is get the work done ASAP to avoid later complications.
The good thing is now the numbing techniques they use are FAR more effective than they were 10 years ago.

I am getting my wisdom teeth removed here in the next month. All four have grown into my jaws, so they have to cut them from that. I amalso terrified to have it done. But on the plus side, I heard they give you awesome drugs and you live on icecream for a few days. Thats not too terrible.
